Global Forest Goals

The Global Forest Goals form the foundation of the United Nations Strategic Plan for Forests 2017–2030. Together with 26 associated targets, they provide a universal roadmap to advance sustainable forest management, strengthen the multiple benefits of forests, and foster cooperation at all levels. These voluntary and universal commitments guide collective action to halt deforestation and forest degradation, expand sustainable practices, and support progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and other international forest-related agreements.

    International Day of Forests

Every year on 21 March, the world comes together to celebrate the International Day of Forests. It’s a moment to recognise the many ways forests support our lives and our planet — from the air we breathe to the food we eat.

The Day is coordinated by the UN Forum on Forests and the Food and Agriculture Organization, in collaboration with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests and partners worldwide. It inspires tree-planting, events, and stories that remind us why forests matter.
